And so we put the finishing touches to Le Caprice New York.
After 28 years, the original St James’s brasserie has grown into a mature adult (well, with Jesus Adorno as its Godfather it has benefited from much wonderful spiritual guidance), so it is very exciting to bring a new Caprice into the world and see it born, wide eyed and blinking in the bright lights of New York City.
Knowing that we are the new kid on the (61st Street) block there is a keen, anticipatory mood in the air. The front and back of house teams are well aware that they are the latest addition to a very discerning restaurant scene in New York. No detail can be overlooked.
The Manhattan-born baby girl is looking much like her older sister. A revolving door spins in from Fifth Avenue and a long black bar sweeps into the dining room. The monochrome DNA winds tightly through with a dramatic white floor and walls desperate to be dressed in chic Bailey portraits, just like big sis.
As days tick by until her debut the kitchen and floor teams are eager to show her off to the world.
